The Insurrection

The shock of January 6th has not worn off. I have been waiting for a multitude of emotions to simmer down so I might express my thoughts on that horrific event. But 8 days later finds me still glued to news bulletins and the drama of the orange blob being impeached once more. I decided to take a moment though to put down my recollection of events of the day and my thoughts concerning them. I do so more for a record of my views of what happened than any actual opinion about the event. Who knows in some twenty or thirty years from now I might want to review what happened. Explain the events to my grandbaby or others not yet born. I might even feel a need to leave a personal record for those I leave behind. They might need to know what happened absent professional or governmental ...

It has been awhile…

It has been awhile since my last posting. June 15, 2020 to be exact. I had thought the election season would engender many posts discussing the events unfolding in the election and pandemic. Yet I remained silent. I would like to blame it all on life itself. Issues due tend to confuse the day especially when in a pandemic and locked down. But that would only be partially true. I chose not to post because I had no thoughts to offer that weren’t already being offered. I was no more aghast at the revelations of the Orange One and had become numb to his repeated lies and ignorance. What was to add to this filth and pile of excrement he and his lackeys thrust upon us during the election cycle. He had made a mockery of our country, our laws, and our democracy. He cared not for any rule of ...

Eating Our Own

How battered will I be? In the midst of Black Lives Matter and surging protests against militarized police departments and racial profiling, how insensitive will I be characterized? Will I be vilified for being racist, because although the narrative of this post is dedicated to electability and pragmatic election strategy, it addresses black candidates in its premise. Or, more importantly, the necessity of avoiding progressive black candidates, at least in Southern elections. Yet I must, must protest the fallacy of Democrats running, supporting, and encouraging “Progressive” black candidates in Southern States. In their hubris and ignorance, they sabotage the very reforms we need. I supported Stacey Abrams. I voted for Andrew Gillum. But in whatever context you want to position the results, they lost. If held again today, the results would be the same. Probably in the same manner, through voter suppression with a tall side order of bigotry and ...

Why Do They Defend?

I read. Probably not enough. I research. Sometimes too little. And I observe. Most definitely too much. I can suffer from paralysis of analysis and internal bias. But I do try to understand before I take any action. I do not hold my retorts for the convenient headline or propagandized thumbnail clickbait highlighted at the top of news articles. I actually read more than one or two paragraphs of the article, story or book before I reply. Could be a reason I have been asked my opinion on the current issues at hand. So here’s the thing.
I disagree with the self-righteous, chest thumping condemnations my friends on the left have for the defenders of Second Place against his impeachment. True, I believe he has abused the powers of his office since the day he was elected. I find Second Place contemptible, despicable and a real time threat to ...

The Stupidity of It All

How ludicrous. How two dimensional. How ridiculous. Recent reports have given sway to Second-places arguments for re-election. He plans to be both the victim and the hero. Good Goddess, when will the insanity end? Worst of all, many people in the political arena think it will resonate and work with independents and those he needs to gain an Electoral College victory again. Yes, Electoral College victory, because his handlers are quite sure he will never win the general vote. Their pitch is that he has been harassed on all sides. That he has never been able to implement his plan because Washington insiders, the Deep State, and the liberal Democrats have all conspired to keep him from succeeding. That all of these people have thwarted his moves through the Muller investigation, liberal courts, and Fake News in order to make him look bad and keep his power. But, ‘Our Hero’ ...
